David A. Holz

David A. Holz, 78, of Oakfield was carried peacefully home to Heaven surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born December 8, 1938 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, the oldest son of Herbert and Hermina Klein Holz. He graduated from Oakfield High School Class of 1956. On February 25, 1961 he married Judith Schaefer at St. John’s Rectory in Byron. Dave served in the US Army National Guard 127th Infantry serving a year of active duty at Fort Lewis Washington during the Berlin Crisis. Dave worked for Huth-James Shoe Factory for five years, Carey Oil for seven years, and Condon Oil Company for 39 years until his retirement in 2006. After retirement he worked several years part time for Holiday Automotive. Dave was an Oakfield Lions Club charter member, an Oakfield Fire Department honorary member and served on the Oakfield Village Board for 32 years. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oakfield and served on the church council. He coached little league for several years. Dave was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewer, and Wisconsin Badger fan. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, and most of all loved going to his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events.



He will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy and his four children, Jeffrey Holz of Oakfield, Michele Holz of Madison, Therese (John) Krause of Appleton, and Christopher Holz of Oakfield. Bumpa will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren, Tyler Holz, Kennedy Krause, Haley Holz, Michael Krause, Olivia Holz, Macy Holz, and Clayton Holz. He is further survived by three siblings, Roger (Noreen) Holz of Fond du Lac, James (Kay) Holz of Oakfield, and Karen (Ron) Collien of Oakfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry (Joyce) Schaefer of Fond du Lac, Karen Schaefer of Sheboygan, Ann (Ron) May of Fond du Lac, Bill “Dugie” Schaefer of Oakfield, and Kathy Schaefer of Wisconsin Dells; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Madonna Schaefer; a brother-in-law, Jerry Schaefer; and a nephew, Joseph Schaefer.



The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Thursday at church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oakfield. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.



In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Dave’s name.



The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Troiki and Stacey, Dr. Lundberg and Sara, Lisa Michels, APNP, and the staff at the Cancer Center, especially Brittney, Kelly, Tasha, Julie, and Richelle for their care over the last months. A very special thank you to Linda at Agnesian Dialysis Center, Sara with Agnesian Palliative Care, the nurses and staff at Neenah Dialysis, Becky, Mandy, and Sara, and the entire staff of Agnesian in home Hospice and Hospice Home of Hope for the exceptional care and love given to Dave and his family.
