David D. "Dave" Nett

April 19, 1934 — December 19, 2021

David D. “Dave” Nett, 87, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Fontida Assisted Living. He was born in Fond du Lac on April 19, 1934, to Leo “Jim” and Mary (Trescott) Nett. Dave attended St. Peter’s grade school in Malone and graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1952. His alma mater later honored him with the “St. Joseph the Worker Award” in recognition for embodying the values of St. Joseph; working for the greater good and doing so with love and humility. Dave served in the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Infantry “Red Arrow” Division. He worked at Winnebago Dairy, Johnson School Bus Services, Nichols Five Star Charters, and for the US Postal Service (USPS) as a letter carrier. Dave was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 270.

In his youth, Dave enjoyed summer vacations up North with his sister and maternal grandparents where his grandfather taught him to fish. He had four children with his first wife, Jackie (Myers) Nett; Dwight, Doug, Darcy, and Dana. On May 17, 1975, Dave married Berdie Rae Rose Beyer at Memorial Baptist Church in Fond du Lac. Together they adopted three children, Stacey, Matt, and Mario and fostered 52 children. He was beloved by the students on his school bus routes and the student athletes at St. Mary’s Springs. Dave was the requested driver for all of Springs chartered athletic events, especially football. When he wasn’t cheering on the Ledgers, he would listen to Badger games, Cub games, and polka music on his transistor radio. Dave was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his children, Dwight (Susan) Nett, Doug Nett, Darcy (Dan) Zeleske, Dana (Sue) Nett, Stacey (Chad) Nett Lompre, Matthew (Sandra) Nett, and Mario Nett; grandchildren, Ashley Manthey, Lindsey (Seth) McNinch, Joshua (Nicole) Nett, Caley (Dan) Makouske, Erica (Abdul) Sesay, Kristen Nett, Peyton and Alexandra “Lexi” Nett, Alexis, Ashleigh, Dominique, Hayleigh, and Ryley Lompre, Quistis, Aunaleigh, and Joshua Nett, Isabella, Ariel, Kaylynn and Raelynn Nett; great grandchildren, Elle and William Manthey, Milo, Mac, and Maisy McNinch, Grace and Wyatt Nett, and Kaia Sweetman; his sister, Lois Davies; and nieces and nephews.
