David "Dave" Roi Greene

May 2, 1949 — April 17, 2025

David “Dave” Roi Greene, devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Fond Du Lac after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 75 years of age.

David was born on May 2, 1949, in San Diego, Calif. He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Huggett (nee Hudson), his grandparents Dorothy and George Hudson (aka, Mommo and Poppo), his brother Hal Greene (Lori), sister Nancy Jo Huggett, brother Dale Huggett, father-in-law Lawrence Pauze, mother-in-law Veronica Pauze, and brothers-in-law Glenn and Mark Pauze.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda Greene (nee Pauze) of Fond du Lac, Wisc.; their five children Stephen Greene (Becky) of Mesa, Ariz., Paul Greene (Tori) of Chandler, Ariz., Peter Greene of Fond du Lac, Wisc., Rachel Koelbl (Andy) of Fond du Lac, Wisc., and Deborah Randall (Clint) of Mesa, Ariz., his 21 grandchildren, his brothers Randy Huggett (Jody), Phil Huggett (Kim), and John Huggett, and sisters Peggy Duncan (Jeff), and Diana Huggett-Fowler.

After graduating from Goodrich High School in 1968, Dave attended the UW-Fond Du Lac campus before leaving school to help care for his younger siblings. On September 16, 1972 he married the love of his life, Linda.

As a lifelong Catholic, Dave served in the Church in various ways: from his involvement in the Charismatic Movement, to working with Marriage Encounter, leading the choir for the 11 a.m. Mass at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish for 25+ years, contributing vocals and guitar to the In Spirit music group, and providing music for numerous weddings, funerals, and retreats.

Dave was an avid athlete, a gifted singer and guitar player, a voracious reader, and always ready with a joke or story for any occasion. However, his greatest passion was people. He had a gift for making sure that everyone felt welcome and included, and wherever he was he used his natural affinity for others to engage with everyone from old friends to perfect strangers. He saw the best in people, and often went out of his way to help those who were in trouble or down on their luck.

He loved children, and enjoyed teaching them life skills like how to catch a fish or mow a lawn, always taking an active interest in the activities of his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great- nieces and nephews. He delighted in spending time with all generations of his extended family, and was never happier than when camping, fishing, making music, golfing, or playing pickleball with his loved ones.

Most of all he loved his wife, kids, and grandkids.

As cancer slowly took his health and abilities, he suffered with great patience, strength, and dignity, and remained grateful to the end for the many blessings of his life, and the many family and friends he was blessed to share it with. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on in the lives and memories of the countless people who were blessed to know him.
