David Emmett Guy passed away, with his family around him, Thursday October 18th at St. Agnes hospital following a brief illness. David was born September 2, 1958 in Fond du Lac. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1976 and attended UW Fond du Lac and the University of Minnesota.David played soccer throughout his life, and coached many youth leagues. A creative man, David won numerous awards for his musical and oratory skills. In 1982, the Fond du Lac Police department and The Optimists recognized him for apprehending a purse-snatcher. David was a natural born salesman who enjoyed and cared for his customers. He also was an accomplished and creative cook as well as an avid gardener.David is survived by his parents R. Thompson and Laurette (Keys) Guy, two brothers Gregory (Deborah Grier) Guy and Thomas (Cheri Gaffney) Guy, a niece, Rebekah (Omar) Mendez and nephews Jeremiah (Kristi Sippel) Guy, Timothy (Moltu Joseph) Guy, Christopher and Nicholas Guy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.Describing David Emmett Guy to someone who didn't know him, is describing thousands of brilliant shades across autumn trees to a blind man. You are lucky to have witnessed colors that were so vibrant, that at times they were difficult to comprehend. He is a loving sweet soul with no enemies; so sharp with wit and comprehension, that he understood others before they understood themselves. His perspective on life was his gift to the world, and at times his pain. David needed to add spice, to lift life to his level and make it more interesting. He always came to the garden with more plants than he could ever fit, and brought to the conversation more perspective than we could understand. He brought a unique potent flavor to everything he touched in life. Many talk of love, David didn't. He was love through his actions. He didn't love when it was expected; he gave himself in love to each of us when it wasn't expected. Part of his genius was knowing when inappropriate was appropriate. David knew when he was needed, and filled a void in all our hearts when no one else could. Whether biking for miles with his family and friends, giving his garden life on long, hot summer days, or spending countless hours with his parents that needed him, David will be missed by this world, and by all who knew him. As we mourn, others celebrate David's coming home. For David has recently been received by his family, greeted by old friends, and accepted with arms open wide by the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says God sits in the heavens and laughs. Right now David's laughing too, probably at all of us.
