David Harold Braun passed away on May 13, 2014 at the age of 77. He was born on July 16, 1936 in Appleton, WI to Ambrose and Julie (nee) Bertram Braun. On December 10, 1977 he married Dorothy "Dot" (nee) Johnson Braun at Presentation Church in North Fond du Lac. He became a husband, father, & a grandfather all within 2 years of marriage. He spent his first years in St. Peter with his parents and grandparents. He enjoyed his large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Later he moved, along with his parents, to North Fond du Lac where his parents owned a farm. It was there that he attended high school. When he was 18 years old he was hired as an apprentice at Giddings and Lewis of Fond du Lac. He eventually worked in the International Sales department where he traveled to many foreign countries and entertained many customers at the Fond du Lac location. Before he retired he became a Contract Administrator and was on the Committee for the United States Department of Commerce. He provided technical information and advice to the Department of Commerce as a member of the Numerically Controlled Machine Tool Technical Advisory Committee. In total David work for G & L for 45 years. Two of his passions were snowmobiling (riding and "building up" his snowmobiles), fishing, gardening, barbequing, making jerky, snacking, spending many hours doing genealogy, and talking with just about everybody.He is survived by his wife of 37 years; one daughter, Cheryl (David) Madvin of Spokane, WA; two step-children, Patrick (Diane) Goosman and Lisa Duffy, both of Fond du Lac; five step-grandchildren, David Gossman, Lee (Allison) Gossman, Craig Gossman, Denise (Dan) Kohnke and Cara (Zach) Nimmer, all of Fond du Lac; two step-great grandchildren, Lincoln Gossman and Aria Kohnke. He is further survived by one sister, Elaine (Steve) Rusch of Seattle, WA; two brothers, Jim (Kathy) Braun and Joe (Linda) Braun, both of Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Braun of Lamartine; one brother-in-law, Richard (Lavada) Johnson of Brooklyn Center, MN; his uncle, Eddie Bertram and aunts, Lyla and Julitta Bertram; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; one brother, Daniel Braun; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Presentation Catholic Church, 701 Michigan Avenue, North Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac with Reverend Michael Bertram officiating.
