David John Bindert of Fond du Lac, died Friday, September 19, 2008, at his residence following a yearlong struggle with cancer. During the year of his illness, David bore his struggle with an admirable calmness and a great degree of dignity. David was born February 3, 1958, in Fond du Lac, the son of Elswood & Marjorie Vossekuil Bindert. David graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1976. During his career, David developed a fine skill for painting. He had a good eye and taste for color and matching combinations. Anyone that had their vehicle painted by him, still proudly points out that fact. He was employed by Wisconsin Central Railroad, Bindert Trucking, and Mid-States Trucking. During his illness, the one thing that David hoped people would remember him for was his laughter. He could tell a story about some ordinary incident (including a difficult time) in such a funny way, that people still refer to it and laugh as much as they did the first time they heard it.David is survived by his four brothers, Robert (Lynn) Bindert of Dickinson, TX, Gary Bindert and Dennis (Donna) Bindert, both of Fond du Lac, and Gerald Bindert of Phoenix, AZ, a sister, Judith Fitzsimmons of Fond du Lac, a very, very, special friend, Daisy Frazier of Fond du Lac, 14 nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. His parents and a brother Ronald preceded him in death.
