David Paul Hinn, age 71, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at his residence. David was born in Fond du Lac on March 17, 1946, a son of Ervin Henry and Violet Lydia (Trippler) Hinn.
On May 23, 1971, David married the love of his life Kathryn Lucretia Comeaux at
Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, WI. He had a deep love for his wife
and great appreciation for her sacrifice and unselfish willingness to relocate many times
during his 20 year career in the United States Army.
David served in the United Stated Army from August 1964 until his retirement from
active duty on 1 November 1985. David earned the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7)
and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. David earned many awards and decorations
while on active duty. Upon his retirement from active duty David worked various local
jobs. August 1986 his calling came again for his country. David was hired by the United
States Army as a Federal Civilian Employee assigned to the Army ROTC Program at the
University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. David worked there for 20 years retiring on 1 August
2006. David loved his job and the most rewarding part of it was watching these young
men and women develop into our future leaders of the United States Army.
David enjoyed watching his children in high school playing football, track, volleyball,
and softball rarely missing a game, and then moving on to watching the grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn, of almost 47 years, three children, Jason Hinn of
Darboy, Michelle Hinn (Fiancé Michael Bond) of North Fond du Lac and Brian (Chrissy)
Hinn of Sheboygan, grandchildren Jacob Brunet, Katherine Brunet, Griffin Brunet, Carly
