Debra (Deb) Ann Mitchem

Debra (Deb) Ann Mitchem, age 62, joined her son Cyrus Glave on August 5, 2021 due to long term health complications. She was born to Frank and Joyce Mitchem on September 26, 1958 in Chicago Illinois.



My mom has always been a fighter, she has made it through some very hard times and push through tough times. She proved strong in her fight with her health, the doctors didn’t even expect her to make it as long as she did. She was tough and anyone who knew her, knew not to mess with her cause as she would say “I’ll bust your head!” Whether playfully or serious.



She loved watching those fake ghost stories and old country & western movies, which put us all to sleep. She enjoyed all genres of music especially old country music. She loved to sing and many times made up new words to old song just to be goofy. She was very silly. She was known for a good laugh or two. She was a pretty cool mom, all our friends either claimed her as their mom or said they wished they had a mom like ours. She will be forever missed.



She leaves behind her brother, Frank Mitchem Jr.; her children, Donna Mitchem, Steven Lee Phillips, Katrina and Selina Todd, Julian and Cherie Glave; and many other kids who called her mom. As well as her grand children and great grand children: Ashley, Moriah, Angela, Krystal, Brandon, Rukiya, JoyAnn, Demetria, Duante, Devontae Aubree, Willow, Juliana, Alex , Julian Jr., Amelia, Diamanni, Elias, Jazzmin, Heaven, Freya, Liam, Jeremiah, and Kayden; and many nieces and nephews, and close friends Dale Glave, Marcia Collins and Herman James

The visitation will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place after the visitation at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
