Delbert D. McKinney, age 88, of North Fond du Lac, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2008 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1919 in Warsaw, Indiana the son of Cecil and Coral (Van Arsdale) McKinney. Delbert moved at an early age to Texas from Indiana then to Racine. He worked in the restaurant business for two years, and then went to CCC camp for two years. He volunteered to the Armed Forces serving in the United States Army. He was assigned to 2nd Armed Division and trained for two years at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA. He was stationed in Africa, Sicily, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He was awarded several medals including Silver Star-Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, combat infantry badge. He spent a total of two years overseas, and four years and three months total in service. He was discharged as a 1st Sgt.Delbert married Virginia Lui on January 26, 1946. She preceded him in death on January 30, 1961. On March 15, 1962 he married Rosemary C. Wiggins. Delbert worked in Racine in the lumber business for several years, and left Racine to become sales manager for Kindt Lumber in Lomira. Then he left to go to West Bend Co. to become a purchasing agent for facilities and supply. He retired form West Bend Co after fifteen years. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Theresa, and the American Legion in Theresa, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed sports, fishing, golfing, gardening and playing cards.
SURVIVORS: his wife Rosemary of North Fond du Lac, three daughters, Sharon Baldauf, Patti (Eugene) Miller, and Cynthia Plaisance, seven grandchildren, Kelly (Steve) Ouimette, Jodi (Gary) Chapman, Dan Plaisance, Jeannie (Glenn) Becker, Mike Plaisance, Mark Supple, and Kim (Robb) Duveneck, twelve great-grandchildren, Cassie, Alex, Steven, Marissa, Megan, Zach, Nathan, Sammy, Britney, Macky, Jamie, and Haley, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia, his brother, Charles.VISITATION: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 9-11 A.M. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 102 Church St, Theresa. FUNERAL: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11 A.M. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 102 Church St, Theresa with the Reverend Dennis Budka officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional services.
