Derek J. HernandezDerek "D" J. Hernandez, 21, of 172 Twin Lakes Drive, North Fond du Lac, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born September 30, 1982, in Fond du Lac, a son of Tom and Darcy Nett Hernandez. Derek was a member of Community Church, and was currently employed by Super Wash Car Wash. He was a 2001 graduate of Goodrich High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac. He was involved in softball, bowling, and golf, and enjoyed Frisbee golf. He was a kind person that enjoyed being with children. Derek loved music and enjoyed going to concerts.Surviving is his mother, Darcy (Dan) Zeleske of Fond du Lac, his father, Tom Hernandez of Mt. Calvary, three sisters; Ashley and Lindsey Hernandez, and Caley Bertram all of Fond du Lac, two step-brothers, Adam and Aaron Zeleske of Fond du Lac, his maternal grandmother, Jackie Nett and maternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Dave (Berdie) Nett, all of Fond du Lac, and his paternal grandfather, Frank Hernandez of North Fond du Lac, of who he had a very special relationship with. Further surviving are his many friends who loved him. His paternal grandmother, Judy Hernandez, preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Derek J. Hernandez will be on Sunday, December 7, 2003, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Monday, December 8, 2003, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Community Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am at Community Church on Monday, December 8, 2003. The Rev. Ken Nabi will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
