Dirk Stuart Van Pelt, a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on August 22, 1933, Dirk was a beloved figure in his community, known for his dedication to family, business, and civic engagement.
Dirk was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in the natural beauty of Wisconsin. He cherished duck hunting with his loyal Labradors and spent countless hours boating, fishing, and water skiing with his family. Winters were filled with snowmobiling adventures, creating cherished memories for all.
A respected businessman, Dirk served as the former president of Rueping Leather Company and owner of Badger-Freund Printing Company. His leadership and vision were instrumental in the success of these enterprises, leaving a lasting impact on the local economy.
Dirk’s commitment to his community was unwavering. For 70 years, he actively participated in numerous boards, clubs, and fundraising efforts. A dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church for 45 years, Dirk chaired the Refurbishing Committee in 1968, successfully raising over a quarter of a million dollars for the church projects.
A proud and devoted Green Bay Packers fan, Dirk held season tickets for 60 years, his testament to enduring loyalty and passion for the team.
Dirk is survived by his loving sister, Connie V Hamberger (age 99); three sons, Curtis (Cindy, six grandchildren, three great-granddaughters), Tyler (Betty, one grandson, one great-granddaughter), and his beloved son Forrest Van Pelt, the light of his life.
Dirk’s legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all. A private family service will be held to honor his memory.
