Dolores G. George, age 93, passed away on March 18, 2015 at Grancare Nursing Home in Fond du Lac. She was born on May 7, 1921 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late John and Martha (Golomb) Ebersberger. She was one of twelve children. On September 3, 1940 she married James M. George in New Brunswick, ME. Together they owned and operated Jimmy’s Shoe Service for over fifty years. Dolores was an avid reader and quilter, making hundreds of quilts for her family and our troops spanning the globe.
Survivors include her children; Marianne (Harvey) Schmidt of Maple Grove, MN, Janet (Howard) Hinkley of Merritt Island, FL, Ginny (Louis) Birschbach of Armstrong, James (Kathie) of Armstrong, David (Susan) of Fond du Lac and Karen (Elliot) Friedman of West Lafayette, IN. She is further survived by grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Adam (Paula) Schmidt, Rod Schmidt, Ben Schmidt, Nicole Schmidt, Joe Norris, Tony (Tracy) Norris, Erich (Jamie) Birschbach, Mandy (Brad) Nycz, Tierra (Steve) Younker, Trevor (Jenny) George, Amity George, Nico Friedman, Alec Friedman, Jason Hinkley and Heather Hinkley, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Florence Brickham of Oshkosh and brother, Cy Ebersberger of California. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, granddaughter Lisa Schmidt and nine sisters and brothers.
Cremation has taken place with a private family memorial service to follow at a later date. Burial will follow the service in St. Charles Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
