Donald I. Crawford, 94, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born May 19, 1924 in Fond du Lac, the son of Raymond and Mary Bohlman Crawford. Donald served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942 – 1946. On November 11, 1950 he married Betty E. Krueger at St. Paul’s Cathedral and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2004. Donald worked for the Soo Line Railroad. He enjoyed model trains and airplanes, traveling, and restoring Volkswagen Bugs and a Model T. Donald lived life to the fullest always saying, “I’ll do it my way”.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Ralph) Lackas of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Brandon (Lilly) Guenther, Daniel (Kim) Wick, Arika (Bryan) Woods, and Lyndie (Alex) Treleven; six great grandchildren, Sophia, Aurelia, Olive, Clara, Lucille, and Lincoln; two sisters, Doris White of Bloomington, IL and Joan Knipple of Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Bernice Krueger of Fond du Lac; three nephews, Michael, Scott and Todd; and special family friends, Sylvia (Roger) Koch of Wausau. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; daughter, Ann Wick; brother, Jack (Eileen) Crawford; and brother-in-law, George Knipple.
The visitation will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Burial will follow in Rienzi Cemetery.
