Donna J. Abitz

Donna J. Abitz, 69, of Fond du Lac, died suddenly on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Berlin Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 15, 1944 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Higgins) Snyder, Sr. On July 18, 1962, she was united in marriage to Donald Abitz, Sr., in Fond du Lac. Having been raised in a family of fourteen children, family was of the utmost importance to Donna. She was known as a grandmother to all children, family and stranger alike. She has been described as having a big heart in a small package and was a true and loyal friend to those that knew her. Donna was a member of the "Red Hatters" and in years past was a member of Eagles Aeire #270 Auxiliary.She is survived by three children, Donald (Theresa Sculley) Abitz, Jr. of Neshkoro, DeAnn (Eric Amend) Abitz of Fond du Lac, and Debra (Chris Lahn) of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Daniel Abitz, Alicia Abitz, Bobbie Lahn and Ambre Abitz; six great-grandchildren; Austin, Dante, Devan, Jordyn, Olivia and Tatum; four brothers, Charles Snyder, Phillip (Nellie) Snyder, Steven (Jula) Snyder and Walter (Nancy) Snyder; three sisters, Virginia (Stanley) Zielicke, Yvonne (Donald) Hiley and Diane (Brian) Pillars; six brothers-in-law, Wilmer (Arlene) Abitz, Jr., Robert (Terry) Abitz, Arthur (Cheryl) Abitz, Dennis (Sherry) Abitz, Randall (Deborah) Abitz and Mark (Angela) Abitz; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Smith, Gloria (Richard) Struzynski and Carol (James) Oechsner; and many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Daniel Jeff; four brothers, Richard Snyder, Jr., Eugene Snyder, James Snyder, Sr., and Raymond Snyder; two sisters, Claudette Lee and Janet Young; and a brother-in-law, Clarence "Click" Abitz.



A visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave., Fond du Lac, from 4-8PM and again on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the funeral home from 10-11AM. The funeral service will follow the visitation on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11AM. Cremation will follow the service with burial to follow at a later date in Estabrooks Cemetery.
