Donna Mae Frank, age 86, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Hospice Home of Hope, surrounded by her five children. She lived her last decade of life happily and amongst her friends at St. Clare Terrace Retirement in Fond du Lac, WI. In Donna’s last days, her five children, countless friends and family, local nuns continuously supported her, and multiple Facetime and phone calls from her loved ones. To say Donna was loved would be an understatement. Her smile was joyous, her laugh was contagious, her happiness was unbounded, and her patience unprecedented. Donna was a tremendous wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was such a special woman and will be greatly missed, always and forever remembered; with a piece of her continuing to live on through all of the hearts she has touched.
Donna Mae (Butz) was born on April 16, 1931 to Frank and Amanda (Holzmann) Butz. She was the seventh of eight children, six boys and two girls. Donna grew up on a farm in St. Cloud, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Saint Mary Springs Academy and graduated from Saint Agnes School of Nursing in 1952, as a RN. While in school, Donna met Albert Frank. They wed in 1952 and had five children. Donna was a caregiver from an early age and continued this role throughout her entire life, always putting others ahead of herself. She was a woman of immense faith, a dedicated volunteer, a fabulous cook, an amazing seamstress, and a creative force to be reckoned with. She taught many of her kids and grandkids the art of flavorful cooking and was especially known for her Greek cuisine, the heritage of her husband, Al. She sewed clothes, blankets & accessories with precision for her kids, their kids, and now their kids. In her later years, she created newborn care baskets for the Personal Touch Gift Shop. Those of you who knew Donna Mae will attest that giving gifts and love were some of her very favorite things in life.
Donna Mae Frank is survived by her five children: Albert Jr. (Jillayne Bertram), Patrick, Mary (Mike Hammes), Peter (Elzbieta), Cathy (Steve duPont); her twenty one grandchildren spread throughout the US and the UK; her seventeen great grandchildren; her two brothers: Kenneth & Gerald (Karen) Butz; sisters-in- law: Elizabeth Frank, Ellie Butz and Roseann Butz. She is preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband Albert; sister Olive (Clem Simon); brothers: Donald (Joy) Butz, Gordon (Iola) Butz, Francis Butz, Roy (Gladys)Butz; and sister-in-law Sylvia Butz, and other relatives.
