Doris L. RobertsDoris L. Roberts, 83, of 377 N. Park Avenue, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at her residence. She was born February 9, 1922, in Shawano, the daughter of Arnold and Flora Martens Albertz. On October 28, 1939, she married Ernest R. "Ernie" Roberts in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1985. Doris was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was formerly employed by Best Roller and later by Wells Manufacturing for 17 years. After her retirement, she worked at Mercury Marine and later at Miles Kimball. As a strong union person, she was active in the Fond du Lac County Democratic Party, and was responsible for introducing the union into Best Roller. Doris enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making afghans for each grandchild, traveling and visiting friends, wintering in Arizona, gardening, canning the best pickles, and singing praises to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She greatly enjoyed children and the sound of their laughter in her home.Surviving are three daughters; Nancy (Bob) Cabler of Surprise, AZ, Darlene (Bob) Kairis of Winneconne, and Judith Kimpel of North Fond du Lac, a son, Dennis (Alice) Roberts of Fond du Lac, 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by five sisters, Lois Schwartz, Lorraine Bender, June Schaetzel, Ruth (Fiancé' Wayne Kaiser) Albertz, and Elaine Lamb, and two brothers, Arnold (Lorraine) Albertz and Lincoln (Sally) Albertz, all of Fond du Lac. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Diane Prahl, three grandchildren, Charles Chase, Jennifer Schmidt, and Thomas Henning, one brother, Milton Albertz, and a sister, Evelyn Schneider, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Doris Roberts will be on Sunday, September 25, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and from 9 to 10 am on Monday, September 26, 2005, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be on Monday, September 26, 2005, at 10 am at the church. The Rev. David Dolan will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
