Dorothy A. Zwicky

August 30, 1931 — February 28, 2013

Another angel is in heaven today. Dorothy Augustina Barthuly Zwicky, born on August 30, 1931, graduated from this world on February 28, 2013 with her family by her side. Dorothy married Gordon Harvey Zwicky on February 18, 1950. She was preceded in death by her father, John J. Barthuly and her mother, Katherine Barthuly; her brothers, John, Alex and Otto A. Barthuly; her sister, Natalie Hunt; her son, Jeffrey L. Zwicky; and her beloved husband, Gordon H. Zwicky. She was the devoted mother of daughter, Jani R. (Rick) Zwicky Marcellis Picard of Oshkosh and son, Michael J. Zwicky of Waukau, WI. She was the loving grandmother of two grandsons, Jason D. Marcellis of Oshkosh and Justin M. Marcellis of Appleton. She is further survived by three brothers, Walter J. (Pat) Barthuly, Kenosha, John A. Barthuly, Fond du Lac, Herbert W. (Dolores) Barthuly, Fond du Lac; one sister, Esther (Hermie) Burkhardt, Madison; one brother-in-law, John (Marion) Zwicky, Lake Tomahawk; one sister-in-law, Audrey Lazanas, Madison; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Dorothy will always be remembered by her courage, her faith, her beautiful smile, her sense of humor, her positive attitude and her unfailing love. She devoted her life to her husband and worked by his side in the many businesses that they owned throughout their lives, most notably, Zwicky's Big Z Grocery Store in Fond du Lac, the Crystal Creek Dairy House in Beaver Dam, and the Paper Heaven stores based out of Appleton. They were a team but as Gordy often said"¦she was the wind beneath my wings. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was our rock and our sunshine until her last breath. Our minds are overflowing with her love and memories of her. She is now in the arms of her Lord and those that she loved that have been waiting for her.Dorothy was a very strong woman. She fought a long and brave battle with cancer. She never complained, was always a "little firecracker" and anyone that came in touch with her fell in love with her. The family will be always grateful to the devoted care of her physicians and their staffs, Dr. Lars Swanson, Dr. Rick Davis and Dr. Thomas Klinkhammer, all of Oshkosh. They touched her life and she touched theirs. Words cannot express the gratitude for the care that she received over the last seven months of her life by the amazing staff of Eden Meadows in Oshkosh. They loved her like she was their own and she in turn loved each and every one of them with her own special love and grace. Also a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers of Affinity Hospice who were there by her side.
