Dorothy I. Prochnow

Dorothy I. Prochnow, 85, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her residence. She was born June 28, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret Roble Sullivan. She was a graduate of Fond du Lac High School. On August 24, 1949, she married Gordon E. Prochnow in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1991. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. To Dorothy, being a housewife and mother was the most noble of professions, and was something she took to the highest level. A woman of many talents, she made minature doll houses for collectors and was recognized by Miniature Collector, a national doll house magazine, produced ceramics, and crafted wine. She made jewelry for her loved ones and friends, wedding and birthday cakes, candles, and Christmas ornaments. Her artistry included personalized drawings and making clothing. At 85 years of age, she was active in all forms of social media. Surviving are two sons, Patrick (Heidi) Prochnow of De Pere, and Michael (Sharon) Prochnow of Baraboo, six grandchildren, Kelly Jo Prochnow, Erin (Ryan) Jacobson, Heather (Special Friend Mike) Prochnow, Ryan (Stacy) Prochnow, Nicole (Heath) Anderson, and Jason Prochnow, four great-grandchildren, Rylee Shillcox, Kailyn Jacobson, Brandon Jacobson, and Brody Prochnow, all who are awaiting the arrival of a fifth great-grandchild in the very near future. She is the caring sister of Raymond (Peggy) Sullivan of Milwaukee, Gen Sullivan of Fond du Lac, Helen Shank of Sheboygan Falls, David (Patricia) Sullivan of Fond du Lac, Catherine Kocs of Delavan, WI, John (Judy) Sullivan of Las Vegas, Frank (Mary) Sullivan of West Bend, and her sister-in-law, Mary Sullivan of Indianapolis. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Margaret (Jack) Thurman, a brother Tom Sullivan, sisters-in-law Katie Sullivan, Elaine Sullivan, and brothers-in-law, Eugene Kocs and Jerome Shank.



Visitation for Dorothy I. Prochnow will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, from 4 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Thursday, December 19th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at the church on Thursday. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
