Dorothy L. Eggers

Dorothy L. Eggers, 89, went to heaven peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family at her home on August 23, 2015. She was born in Fond du Lac on November 18, 1925, a daughter of Mike and Jenny (Sass) Moses. On February 3, 1951, she married Frank Eggers at Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before Franks passing on January 7, 2011.



Together, they owned and operated the West Side Lanes; a family bowling business that they enjoyed running for 34 years. Her customers, softball players and bowlers meant a lot to Dorothy. Until the last months of her life, she spoke of the respect and great memories she had of them. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



Dorothy was a well-known bowler in Fond du Lac, bowling many 600 and 700 series. She bowled on television Channel 2 women’s bowling in the 1970’s and early 1980’s and bowled in many national bowling tournaments. She also enjoyed polka dancing, roller skating with her friend Mary Hintz and working on her graduating class of 1943 reunion committee.



Surviving Dorothy are 3 daughters, Dale (Butch) Schaeve of Fond du Lac, Lynn (Vic) Surita of Fond du Lac and Janice “Itzy” (Chris) Streeter of Plainfield, WI; 8 grandchildren, John (Rachel) Schaeve, Kara (Austin) Schaeve, Paul (Alicia) Schaeve, LaShonda (Mike) Cruckson, Frank Joseph Cruckson, Amberly (Cory) Marcin, Stephany (Nate) Kiser and Hali (Sean) Wilke; 13 great-grandchildren, Mason, Kayden, Milonda, Colton, Latrell, Laylin, Lucy, Roslyn, Esme, Rowan, Evelyn, Braden and Alison; nieces, Dawn and Judy (Merl); nephew, Bobby; and additional beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; grandson, James Mikel; great-granddaughter, Frankie Lynn; brother, Edward Moses; and 2 sisters, Genevieve McGrath and Verna (Roger) Schubert.



Private family services will be held Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with entombment to take place Monday, August 31, 2015 in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.



The family wishes to thank Agnesian Hospice Hope and Dr. Russell Frederickson and staff for the care given to Dorothy.
