Dorothy Diane Winters

Dorothy Diane Winters, 89, was called home on Friday, April 19 aged 89 years old. Dorothy was preceded in death by third husband Robert L. Winters, second husband Richard “Dick” King, first husband David J. Block, as well as her daughter Cindy L. King, and sister Marilyn May Stettbacher.

“Dort” was born on January 5, 1935, in Theresa, Wisconsin, to John and Alice Halleman Stettbacher, and worked at Wells Engineering products in Fond du Lac, and at the Stretch Truck Shop and Restaurant.

Dorothy is survived by brother, Delore Stettbacher; son, Rick (Lori) Block; granddaughters, Jennifer L. Kennedy; and Jessica (Dennis Cruz); great granddaughters, Hannah Schnese and Michaella Cruz; and great great granddaughter, Eliza S. Rocha. She is also survived by her beloved dog and loyal “Property Ranger” Shadow, who has a new home with Dorothy’s granddaughter.

Dorothy shared many wonderful memories with her beloved family, listening to birdsong outside her trailer in Redgranite and on her front porch in West Bloomfield. She spent many winters “snowbirding” in Texas with Robert. She enjoyed listening to her radio until the very end of her life, as well as socializing and spending time with friends at the local taverns. She also loved snowmobiling and motorcycling and adored the great outdoors.

Dorothy’s family would like to thank Crystal Genn of Good People LLC for the fabulous care and companionship she gave Dorothy in her final months, and Compassus Hospice for their heartfelt care.

A private memorial and entombment service will be held at Dorothy’s final resting place of Cavalry Cemetery in Fond du Lac. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waupaca County or the Alzheimer’s Association.
