Douglas A. Baker, age 87, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born on May 29, 1928 in Waupun, the son of Ralston F. and Caroline L. (Blyth) Baker. Doug served in the 2nd Division of the United States Marine Corp. On October 30, 1948 he married Bettye Batson in Waupun. Doug worked for thirty-three years at the Winnebago County Mental Health Center and he worked part time at S & S Body Shop in Oshkosh. He enjoyed his family, motorcycling, reading, taking short naps to get more energy, fishing, hunting, and traveling. Doug was always first to help family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Bettye Baker of Fond du Lac; three children, Janet (Jack) Barr of Sun Prairie, Colleen (Daniel) Rains of Janesville, Greggory (Debra) Baker of Fond du Lac, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Bill) Guenther of Fond du Lac, Shirley (Daniel) Griffin of Fond du Lac; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Jacob Hotchkiss.
VISITATION: Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 2-5 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. FUNERAL: Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment will take place at Estabrooks Cemetery.
