The life journey of Duane N. Wild ended abruptly and unexpectedly on August 15, 2024. He was the son of Raymond and Doris (Hinkes) Wild and spent his early years growing up in the town of Lamartine where he tore around on his bike, his motorcycles and his snowmobiles. He graduated Oakfield High School in 1985, moved to Fond du Lac and spent most of his adult working life employed at Mercury Marine. He grew to be a kind, conscientious soul who loved and cared for his many animal companions over the years, including a rat, ferrets and many cats. One of his great simple joys was walking the family dog, Laska, in the silence of early morning. He spent much time keeping in touch with family and friends by calling or dropping in to say hello. He was fascinated with classic cars, tended and fawned over his beloved vintage Chevelle, but was even fonder of his recently-purchased Smart Car. He was a master of online shopping, a listener of a broad range of music, and a good-natured tease. He spent many quiet days tinkering with engines, dining out and adding to his collection of wristwatches. His generosity with his time made him always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a kind, reliable husband, father, brother and friend. A sudden cardiac episode sent him to St. Agnes emergency on August 15th where he passed away. He was 57 years old.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 18 years, Martina Hilbrans; a daughter Christina Hilbrans (husband Corey Garfoot) of St. Peter; his brother Dean Wild (wife Julie Wild) of Brownsville; and many relatives and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by a daughter; and by his parents.
Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
