DuWayne D. Buechel (aka Insano Wayno), 74, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his residence. He was born on July 24, 1946, in Fond du Lac, the son of Alex and Minnie Buechel. Wayne was a graduate of Goodrich Sr. High. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 – 1965. On January 10, 1976, he married Karen Bartus at Presbyterian Church, in Fond du Lac. He was a devoted husband and father who loved time with his family. Wayne was a hard and dedicated worker, spending 38 years of his career roofing. He was employed with W.J. Woodruff, Chase Roofing, and American Restoration, eventually opening his own company, ARMR, Inc. He spent his final years as a machinist at Mercury Marine. Wayne was always the life of the party and had a great sense of humor. He was always telling jokes and making everyone laugh. He also loved fishing, hunting, and had a passion for cars.
He is survived by his wife; Karen; four daughters, Amanda (Frank) Tocco, Melanie (Brad) Peterson, Amber (Richard) Ward, and Kimberly Friedel; five grandchildren; Hunter, Grace, Matilda, Willow, and Carson; Brother, Alex (Patty) Buechel Jr.; sister, Marlene Bunnow; brother-in-law, Chuck (Annette) Bartus; sisters-in-law, Sandra Helmer, Kris (Al) Repp, and Lori (Gary) Will; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Minnie; two brothers, DeLyle and Leroy Buechel, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bev and Charles Bartus; and sister-in-law, Sherry Kramer.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 – 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Rienzi Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 5th floor nursing staff at Agnesian Healthcare, the Fond du Lac Agnesian Cancer Center, as well as the Hospice and Homecare team for all their care and compassion given to Wayne and his family.
