Edith Helene Jarvis

Edith Helene Jarvis, age 89, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Lincoln House Assisted Living Facility after a brief struggle with complications of recurrent cancer. She was born on March 24, 1927, in Fond du Lac, the only child of George and Clara (Koch) Zwetzig. She graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1945. In 1948, Edith married Harry Laurence Jarvis. They had three children.



Edith was a member of Church of Peace-UCC and belonged to the Ladies Aid Society. In her earlier years, she enjoyed going to Moonbeach Church Camp in St. Germaine. She was a gardener along with her husband early in life. Edith enjoyed bridge club with her friends in her younger years. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, and casino trips. Edith was an avid reader, having read over one thousand books. Later in life she became a loyal Green Bay Packer fan.



Edith was employed for many years at the old County Hospital as a nurse aide. She was employed at the former Health Care Center (now known as Harbor Haven) as a licensed practical nurse. After her retirement, she was an active member in the Harbor Haven Auxiliary and volunteered for a time with the Day Treatment Program through the Department of Community Programs.



Edith is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (James) Pickart and Sandra Fryda of Fond du Lac; and her son, Timothy (Barbara) Jarvis of Green Bay. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Pickart, Jamie Pickart, Jennifer Fryda, Stephanie (William) Kaiser, James Jarvis, Michael (Michelle) Jarvis, and Jane Jarvis. Further surviving Edith are her great-grandchildren, Eben Sauer, Kiefer Sauer, Owen Pickart, Ella Pickart, Katherine Fryda, and Savannah Kaiser, and her foster son, James DeClue. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry in 1990; and son-in-law, James Fryda in 2013.



Edith’s family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935 and a memorial service will follow at 12:30 PM. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Estabrooks Cemetery.
