Edmund J. Riegert

Edmund J. Riegert, 79, passed away at St. Agnes Hospital on Monday, October 23, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born in Medford, Wis. on February 7, 1938 to George and Mary (Brookish) Riegert. Edmund graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1956. After graduation, he served in the Army Reserves. On October 31, 1959, he married Carol Greuel at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac.



Edmund worked in partnership with Guilfoile Insurance Agency and retired in 2000. Ed was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Noon Optimist, Elks, Boy Scouts of America and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul in Marinette, Wis. and Fond du Lac. He enjoyed country western dancing with the Cheyenne Schuffle Dance Club.



Survivors include Carol; 7 children, Nicholas (Anne) of Pewaukee, Wis., Jennifer (Brice) Hutton of West Dundee, Ill., Michael (Linda), Katherine (David) Geib, Christopher (Sara), Marty (Susan) and Ann (Nick) Salm, all of Fond du Lac; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald (Jessica); and his sister, Wilma Riegert-Puddy. He was preceded in death by his parents.



Visitation will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church – Holy Family, 59 E. Merrill Ave. in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 PM with inurnment in St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral cemetery to follow. Cremation has taken place.
