Edna M. Smith

Edna M. Smith, 87, of Fond du Lac, died January 14, 2015 at the Lutheran Home. She was born in North Fond du Lac on September 1, 1927, the third daughter of Arthur Wold and Amy Williams Keyes. She graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1944 at the age of 16. She married Charles F. Smith on October 28, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Church in Fond du Lac. She was a member of Holy Family – Sacred Heart Parish. Before her retirement she owned Smith Accounting & Tax Service. Edna was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a member of Fond du Lac County Aquatic Center, Tops WI 743 and the North Fond du Lac Library Book Club. Edna was a volunteer for the St. Agnes Hospital Auxiliary, the Fond du Lac Public Library Home Bound Program and was a Holy Family volunteer at the Lutheran Home.

She is survived by eight sons and one daughter, Tom (Linda) Smith of Sun Prairie, WI, Tim (Sue) Smith of Mt. Calvary, WI, Steve Smith of Pipe, WI, Brad (Barb) Smith of North Fond du Lac, WI, Greg Smith, Pam (Tom) Marcoe, Chris (Sue) Smith, Todd (Diane) Smith all of Fond du Lac, WI and Bruce (Jenny Markwiese) Smith of Madison, WI. She is further survived by ten grandchildren, Becky (Pete) Sewell, Mandy Smith, Shawn Smith, Carla (Keith Kaiser) Smith, Craig (Katie) Smith, Vicki (Matt) Jahnke, Amy (Ryan) McNallie, Tony (Erin Meehan) Marcoe, Andrea (John Flanigan) Smith, Oliver Smith and seven great-grandchildren, Parker Smith, Claire McNallie, Owen & Weston Jahnke and Nolan Flanigan, Henry & Eleanor Sewell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles on June 26, 1982, a daughter-in-law Linda M. Smith, her sisters and their husbands Betty (Erv) Wirtz and Faye (Lorian) Shamrock, her sisters-in-law and their husbands Hazel (Gerald) Flaherty, Mildred (Ray) Wellcome, Alice (Pat) Ewald and Mary Jane (Sylvester) Sook.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Tarfa Terrace and Lutheran Home staff that provided amazing support and comfort as well as their sincere love and care to our mother until the time of her death.

Visitation for Edna M. Smith will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 PM on at the funeral home with Rev. Dean Desilet officiating. Entombment will take place at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Edna's name.
