Edna Mae HuntEdna Mae Hunt, formerly of 604 Skyline Court, Fond du Lac and a recent resident of Harbor House passed away on April 5, 2005 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born April 12, 1917 in New Albany, Indiana, the youngest daughter of Clarence E. Miller and Mabel Lofton Miller. Edna mae was graduated from New Albany High School in 1934. On May 16, 1941, she married Earl T. Hunt at Mount Saint Francis Seminary in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. They were married 59 years before his death on December 30, 2000. In June of 1963, the Hunt family moved from the Kentucky/Indiana area to Fond du Lac. For the next 42 years this southern belle never completely lost her southern accent. Edna Mae enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and homemaker. Cooking and baking were two of her specialties. The grandchildren always looked forward to grandma's delicious French toast when staying overnight. Her favorite pastimes were sewing, reading, gardening and genealogy. She traced the family roots back to the early 17th century. Having goals were important to her. Although Edna Mae was terrified of the water she decided at 49 it was time to learn to swim. She asked the instructor at the Fond du Lac YMCA, "Can I learn to swim without getting my face wet?" She did learn to swim and celebrated her 50th birthday by plunging off the diving board at the Y. A new goal was then set to earn her 50-mile swim certificate. She achieved that goal and kept on swimming. Walking was one of her favorite activities. She walked 2-3 miles a day into her mid 80's. Her parents, husband Earl, and sisters Edith Ward and Hazel Rose preceded her in death. Edna Mae is remembered by her children Paul T. ( Valerie) Hunt of Fond du Lac; Linda S. ( Richard) Kimpel of Fond du Lac, and Daniel E. (Karen) Hunt of Beaver Dam. Eight grandchildren will miss her. They are Richard L. Kimpel, Jr., Dawn L. Kimpel, Tyler A. Kimpel, Brett A. (Ann) Hunt, Courtney M. Hunt, Tiffany A. Hunt all of Fond du Lac and Jennifer M. and Stephen D. Hunt of Beaver Dam. She is also missed by a brother-in-law Joseph Hunt of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, sisters-in-law Catherine (Verne) Page of Clarksville, Indiana and Patricia Bisceglia of Middlesboro, Ky, and numerous nieces, nephews.
