Edna V. DuitmanEdna Virginia Duitman, 79, passed away September 10, 2004, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Whitewood, South Dakota, on November 3, 1924, one of 13 children. In 1942, she graduated from high school in Lead, South Dakota. She worked at Black Hills Ordinance Depot in Igloo, South Dakota during WW II. She married Jerald W. Duitman on May 30, 1946. They were married 52 years at the time of his death in 1996. They owned and operated Duitman Plumbing and Heating for many years. She was a bowler and a golfer and was proud of having made a hole-in-one. For many years, she worked on her family genealogy. She was involved in many groups including a long time member of Homemakers and Heritage Circle at Covenant United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter: Judy (Tom) Wisniewski of Lansing, IL, sons: Gary Duitman and Douglas (Judie) Duitman of Fond du Lac, granddaughters Dawn Wisniewski, Crestwood, IL, and Wendy (Jeff) Kaye of Darien, IL. Survivors include brothers: John (Sally) Talley of Keystone, SD, Walter (Nancy) Talley of Cheyenne, WY, Paul Talley of Cheyenne, WY, Vern (Willa Mae) Talley of Freemont, CA, Dale (Loretta) Talley of Tucson, AZ, Lloyd Talley of Keystone, SD, and Oren (Wanda) Talley of Tucson, AZ. She is further survived by sisters: Marian Maltsberger (Joe Heigis) of Nye, MT, and Doris Ann Caswell (Jim Lundeen) of Rapid City, SD, with also many nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Marie and John Talley Sr.; two brothers, Ross Owen as a child, and Glen in 1963, and her sister, Flora, in 1992.
Visitation for Mrs. Edna Virginia Duitman will be on Monday, September 13, 2004, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, from 10 to 11 am at Covenant United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at 11 00 am at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 N. Marr Street. The Rev. Paul Armstrong will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery, County Trunk K. A memorial educational scholarship fund has been established in her name.
