Edward E. Byrnes

Edward E. Byrnes, 96, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born October 24, 1921 in Fond du Lac, the son of Robert and Frances Baganz Byrnes. On June 21, 1947 he married Joyce E. Crofts at St. Michael’s Church in Dotyville. Joyce preceded him in death on November 4, 2013. Edward was born and raised on a dairy farm and he continued farming until retiring in 1985. After retirement he worked several years part time at Service Motors Case and Bergstrom Automotive. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Dotyville for over 40 years and since 1985 a member of Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, Sudoku puzzles, reading the newspaper, watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. For 30 years Edward also enjoyed going to Arizona for spring training.



He is survived by a daughter, Joan Byrnes of Fond du Lac; one son, Robert (Barbara) Byrnes of Queens Creek, AZ; four grandchildren, Paul Byrnes, Kristine (Ryan) Schulze, Joseph Wilcox, Katie (Jim) Kreitzer; five great-grandchildren, Austin and Brady Schulze, Kaylee and Addison Wilcox, and Mallory Kreitzer. He is further survived by a son-in-law, Bob (Phyllis Toney) Wilcox of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; daughter, Jeanne Wilcox; one sister, Rita Krug; and two brothers, Robert (Betty) Byrnes and Morris “Butch” (Lorraine) Byrnes.



The visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish.



The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church. Cremation has taken place.



In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Edward’s name.
