Edward F. Hankwitz, 93, of Touchstone Living Center, North Fond du Lac, WI died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born Nov. 12, 1914 Fond du Lac, WI. a son of Edward and Emma Hankwitz. On Aug. 3, 1940, he married Arlene A. Schmidt at St. John's Lutheran Church in the Town of Forest. Mr. Hankwitz was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. He served his country in World War II. He worked at Fred Rueping Leather Co. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Racing Pigeon Club and Harmonica Rascals. His love for family, music, animals, Green Bay Packers, and sheepshead brought him many years of enjoyment. He read his Bible everyday.Survivors include two sons, Edward H. Hankwitz of Fond du Lac and James F. (Cheryl) Hankwitz of West Allis, one daughter Susan J. (Donald) Kastorff of Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, George Rose, Idaho one sister-in-law, Coral "Coke" Hankwitz, Fond du Lac, seven grandchildren, Robyn, Holly, Kris, Brian, Dawn, Troy and Kim; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.Preceding him in death his wife of 56 years, Arlene, parents, 5 sisters and a brother, one brother-in-law.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Monday, March 3, 2008 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Avenue.FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Morning officiating. Entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75 will conduct military services at the mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Covenant United Methodist Church or Aurora VNA Hospice.Our family would like to personally thank Touchstone Living Center and staff for their care in his final year and a half of his life.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
