Edward H. Kessler

Edward H. Kessler, age 79 of 308 Lawrence Avenue, Fond du Lac, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born April 13, 1930 in Saukville, WI son of Henry N. and Celeste Schanen Kessler. On July 1955, he married Barbara Carol Lueck at St. Patrick's Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2003. He was a 1949 graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. He served the US Navy during the Korean War. He was involved in sea special operations, and was honorably discharged from the Ready Reserve in 1961. He became an instructor in the Naval Reserve for three years. Among the medals and ribbons awarded to Edward were National Defense, Korean Service, three Bronze Stars, United Nations, Good Conduct, and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He retired in August of 1992 after 41 years of being a union worker. He volunteered for many years at the Fond du Lac Blue Line Family Ice Center. He was his children and grandchildren's biggest fan.Surviving is a son, Michael (Gwyn) Kessler of Fond du Lac, a daughter, Susan (Randall) Kessler-Smith of Kenosha, WI, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his aunt and uncle, Milton (Lillian) Schanen of Lake Church, WI, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter, Carol L. Horton.



Visitation for Mr. Edward H. Kessler will be on Monday, June 22, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Family prayers will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 9:30 am at the funeral home and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church, 232 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac. Reverend Luke Strand will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Town of Taycheedah. Members of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 Firing Squad will conduct graveside military rites. Memorials would be appreciated to the Fond du Lac Blue Line Family Ice Center or Hospice Hope.
