Elizabeth “Betty” A. Smith, 79, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born May 6, 1936 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Francis and Mary Lyons King. On August 18, 1956 she married Lyle Smith and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2014. Betty was a homemaker and she dedicated her life loving her children. She loved going to rummage sales and could spot an orange sign a mile away. She liked to garden and loved to be outside and soak up the sun any way she could. Betty looked forward to summer camping trips, cookouts, and days sitting by the pool. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and gifting the many dish rags and towels she made. Nothing made her smile more than spending time with her family, especially her great grandson, Brantley.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Kurt) Koenigs and their sons, Bailey and Tanner; her daughter, Gina (Bill Abel) Smith and her children, Samantha, Brandon (Megan), and Chase; her daughter-in-law, Tammy Smith and her children, April and Shawn and great grandson, Brantley. She is further survived by her brother, Francis (Barbara) King; and honorary sister and lifelong friend, Frannie Gerbing. Betty leaves behind many special nieces and nephews who she loved very much. She will be missed greatly by her rummage sale partner, niece, and someone she considered one of her daughters and best friend, Cheryl (Paul) Rahmer. She cherished all her friendships with so many people. Betty was a loving woman, with a huge heart and her smile will be missed by everyone that ever knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle; and her son, Steven Smith.
