Elmer J. Urban, 83, of 477 Morris Street, died Friday, July 29, 2005, in Fond du Lac. He was born September 20, 1921, in Fond du Lac, a son of Carl and Eva Meade Urban. Mr. Urban was employed by the US Postal Service as a custodian for 42 years, retiring in 1986. He was a veteran of WW II serving from February 4, 1941 to March 3, 1948. Elmer served with the US Army's 60th Antiaircraft Battalion in Pacific Theatre. He was a POW of the Japanese for 40 months, having survived the "Bataan Death March."Surviving is a sister, Ruth Austin of Fond du Lac, a brother, Donald Urban of Van Dyne, a niece, Vicki (Mike) Spranger of Fond du Lac, and a nephew, Dick (Donna) Zupke of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, Colleen (Bob) Thompson of Fond du Lac, Neil and Brenda Spranger of Fond du Lac, Dion and Nicole Spranger of Appleton, Craig Spranger of Fond du Lac, Todd (Melody) Zupke, Troy Zupke, Torrie Zupke, and Jeremy Zupke all of Fond du Lac, an Nicole Zupke of Las Vegas.



Visitation for Mr. Elmer J. Urban will be on Monday, August 1, 2005, from 12 noon to 3 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to Hospice Hope, Adult Day Care or Dialysis of Fond du Lac, WI.
