Elroy “Doc” N. Hanson, 79, joined his son, David and grandson, Dustin in eternal rest on Sunday, December 21, 2014. He was born in Milwaukee on August 21, 1935 a son of James and Ida (Burt) Hanson. Doc served in the U.S. Army as a Track Vehicle Mechanic and received the Good Conduct Medal. On October 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sandy Wetzel at Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac.
Doc was well-known for his involvement in both bowling and golf. Over the span of three decades, Doc and his wife, Sandy along with their sons and grandson, set multiple bowling records. When it came to golf, Doc carried the distinction of having shot a Hole-In-One on the 3rd Hole of Rolling Meadows Golf Course on June 7, 2010. Since 1960, Doc was a laborer and Cement Finisher in the construction field, having worked for J.P. Cullen, Hutter Construction and retiring from Capelle Brothers and Diedrich in 1997. He was honored for a 50 year membership with the Laborers Union in 2010; and 50 years membership with the Bricklayers Union, where he will be honored posthumously in January of 2015.
Surviving Doc is his wife of 52 years, Sandy, 3 sons; Dennis (Tracy), Dewey and Dar (special friend Diane), 6 grandchildren; Melissa Huebschman (significant other Mike Lucas), Nicole (Ray) Busbey, Miranda Hanson, Brandon Hanson, Breanna Hanson and Jessica Hanson and 7 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Darwin (Claris) and 2 sisters; Shirley Mike and Donna (Delbert) Reetz and special friends, Mark Schibline and Brenda Jones. Doc was preceded in death by his parents, his son David, grandson Dustin, a brother Harold and a sister, Joanne.
Visitation for Doc will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac and again from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Ave. in Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will follow Saturday’s visitation at 10:30 AM with entombment taking place at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, 686 Fond du Lac Ave. in Fond du Lac. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion-Trier Puddy Post #75.
