ELROY J. OTTOElroy J. Otto, 86 of 46 Winnebago Lane, Fond du Lac died Wednesday, January 3,2006 at Clement Zabolocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee. Elroy was born April 25,1919 in Milwaukee the son of Moritz and Emma Kinephoff Otto. On December 20,1942 he married Gertrude E. Bergin at Grace Lutheran Church, Thiensville. Gertrude preceded him in death on February 12,1997. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army from October 21,1942 to December 7,1945, and held the position of Master Sargent. He received the Silver Star and other service medals. Elroy worked as a mechanic for Milwaukee Transport, was service manager at Deising Motors in Milwaukee and Sommers Motors in Thiensville, and an adjuster for State Farm Insurance and also worked for Bergin Plumbing and Heating in Thiensville. Elroy was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on the church council. He was an active member of the Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis Club where he served as secretary for 11 years. He received the Hixon Fellowship Award. He volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI for 16 years. Elroy was an avid fisherman and as a young child he played the violin with his brothers.SURVIVORS: three children, Dianne (Dr. Robert) Pfeffer, Port Washington, Valarie (Kim) Hassell, Milwaukee, Bruce (Tammy) Otto, Grafton, four grandchildren, Trenton Gerber, Amy (Tim) Greisch, Allison (Scott) Schilling, and Michelle Hassell, five great-grandchildren, Payton, Sydney, Brynn, Hannah, and Logan. Two sister-in-laws, Marion and Beatrice Otto, Milwaukee. Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and one sister.



The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, January 9,2006 at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday, January 9,2006. at the church with Reverend Douglas V. Hedman officiating. Cremation has taken place.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
