Elroy J. Schroeder

Elroy J. Schroeder, 75, died at the St. Francis Home on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 5, 1932 in Dale, WI, a son of Arthur and Erna Prellwitz Schroeder. On June 23, 1957, he married Dorothy D. Schroeder at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Westfield, WI. After graduating from Washington High School, New London, WI in 1950, he attended and graduated from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, MN. Throughout his career, he continued his education at both Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, MN, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Elroy taught as an elementary teacher for 46 years serving at Our Savior's, Princeton MN, St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, WI, St. John's, St. Paul, MN, and Our Savior's, Grafton, WI. Some of his positions included Principal, Athletic Director, Coach, and Supervisor of many student teachers. Elroy had a great interest in basketball and football games and in addition to coaching he also refereed many grade school games. He enjoyed bowling on various teams and traveling. He volunteered for 15 years as a van driver for the War Birds of America during EAA held annually in Oshkosh, WI. In his retirement years, he worked at Badger State Auto Auction as a van driver and security guard. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, three daughters, Reneé (John) Rickert, Fond du Lac, WI. Kim Schroeder (Michael Kluk), Fort Mill, SC, Lisa (Brennen) Gregorius, West Bend, WI, seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, and Jayna Rickert, Alyse, Emme, Kiley, and Connor Gregorius, one brother, Vilas (Cheri) Schroeder, Marinette, WI. He is further survived by seven sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Reverend Marlyn Schroeder, infant sister, his parent-in-laws, Otto and Dora Henke, three brothers-in-law, two nephews, and numerous friends and other family members.



Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Friday, April 11, 2008 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Services ~ A private family service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 with the Reverend Michael Zuberbier officiating. Entombment will be at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
