Emil A. Sabel, Jr., 89, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at All About Life Nursing Home. He was born April 10, 1924 in the Town of Empire, the son of Emil and Nealon Davis Sabel. Emil was a veteran of the US Army serving in Japan during WWII. Emil married Iola M. Foster 1948 in Fond du Lac. He worked for Galloway West and owned and operated a farm until 1974. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #270, Ducks Unlimited, Whitetails Unlimited and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting guns.He is survived by five children, John (Dawn) Sabel, Terri Manthei, Tom (Coy) Sabel, Mary Strong, all of Fond du Lac, Kevin (Sonia) Pelot, Eden; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Jo (Carl) Schubert, Fond du Lac; his special friend, Mary Pelot, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Iola; one son-in-law, Kenneth Manthei; two brothers, William (Ruth) Sabel and Jack Sabel; two sisters, Wanda (Frank "Bud") Maier and Charmaine (Martin) Putz.
The visitation will be held from 4:00 "“ 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. David Mundt officiating. A visitation will take place Thursday from 10:45 AM "“ 11:15 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75 will conduct military graveside services. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
