Emma Jane Ambroso

Emma "Jane" Ambroso, 77, formerly of Eden, died Thursday, February 25, 2010, at St. Francis Home, where she had been a resident for the past four years. She was born June 5, 1932, in Eden, the daughter of Leo F. and Esther J. Braun Perron. On November 15, 1950, she married Arthur J. Ambroso in Eden. Jane was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. Jane spent the majority of her time and energy caring for her husband and eight children. Jane met her husband while working as a cashier/clerk at the Eden Meat Market. Early in her marriage, she worked at Taycheedah Correctional Center as a matron and in the kitchen at Eden Public School. In 1968, Jane and her family moved to Illinois for a year. From there, they moved to Minnesota, back to Illinois, and in 1977, on to California. During this time, Jane worked for Motorola in Schaumburg, IL, and in dietary at Whittier Hospital in Whittier, CA. Jane and her husband returned to Illinois and finally retired back to Fond du Lac. Besides her family, Jane enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, cooking, traveling, crossword puzzles, and her collection of ceramic pigs, and Department 56 snow village collection. Jane was also a past member of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club and the Eagles Aerie Auxiliary. Jane is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Art, a resident of St. Francis Nursing Home, eight children, John (Teri) Ambroso of Fond du Lac, Bill (Deborah) Ambroso of Gainesville, FL, Mary (Mike) Hays of Nipomo, CA, Jim (Kelli) Ambroso of Poway, CA, Kathy (Stan) Gilden of Fond du Lac, Ellen (Vito) Santoro of Greer, SC, and Bob (Laura) Ambroso of Whittier, CA, and Sue (Preston) Scott of San Diego, CA. She further survived by 22 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother Jerry (Bea) Perron of Harlingen, TX, a sister, Helen (Jim) O'Brien of Eden, and many special nieces and nephews. Her parents, two brothers, John Thomas and John Henry Perron, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Ambroso, preceded her in death.



Visitation for Jane Ambroso will be on Sunday, February 28, 2010, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Monday, March 1st from 9 to 10 am at St. Francis Nursing Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am at the chapel on Monday. The Rev. Robert Stiefvater will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Eden. A memorial has been established in Jane's name.
