Ernest J. Pickart, Jr., 63, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born July 12, 1954 in Fond du Lac, the son of Ernest J. and Marcella (Faul) Pickart. He was a graduate of New Holstein High School Class of 1972. Ernie met his future wife, Molly Ann Schindelholz, in the spring of 1977 at Hollywood Resort. They married on August 10, 1984 and had over 41 wonderful years together. He worked from 1972 – 1988 at Gilson’s/Lawn Boy and from 1989 until his retirement in 2012 at Giddings & Lewis. Ernie was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Winnebago Land Musky Club, Wings Over Wisconsin, Somo Area ATV Club, and National Wild Turkey Federation. He enjoyed hunting at his cabin in Tomahawk, which he shared with his friends Jerry, Bob, Howard, Dennis, and Neal. He also loved musky fishing in Canada, family trips to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, movies, watching the news, and family get-togethers.
He is survived by his wife, Molly; two children, Maggie (Jake) Mueller and Thomas (Rebecca) Pickart, all of Fond du Lac; four sisters, Carol (David) Hochrein of Appleton, Rosemary Lisowski of Milwaukee, Mary Ann (Norman) Buckmaster of Phelps, and Audrey (Dan) Ugent of Mesa, AZ; in laws, Joseph (Connie) Schindelholz of Burke, VA, Thomas (Gail) Schindelholz, Martin Schindelholz, and Martha Schneider, all of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Alois “Dickie” Thome; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Primrose Schindelholz; and brother-in-law, Randy Schneider.
The visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Robert Grass, Dr. Jon Moen, and Dr. Michael Jones, the 4th and 5th Floor nurses at St. Agnes Hospital, staff of Agnesian Home Health, especially Jessica Fischer, nurses with Agnesian Hospice Home care, especially Larry Roxbury, and the staff, nurses, and volunteers at Hospice Home of Hope during his stay there, for the compassion and care given to Ernie and his family.
