Ervin A. Fenske, age 97, of Fond du Lac died July 17, 2015. Ervin was born on March 6, 1918 to John A. and Emma E. Quade Fenske. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. On June 25, 1946 he married Genevieve M. Berenz at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Ervin retired from the Soo Line Railroad in 1983 where he worked as a welder.
He was a member of the VFW Post 1904. One of Ervin’s most special days was to fly to Washington, D.C. at age 95 sponsored by the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, Inc. This was his first plane flight and he was honored by the recognition he received.
Ervin is survived by one sister, Betty (Duel) Stobb of Brandon, WI, one brother, Donald (Carolyn) Fenske of Loveland, CO and several nieces and nephews.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, two sisters: Arlene and Margarete (Harold) Preissner; and three brothers: Hubert (Marilyn) Fenske, Edwin (June) Fenske and Harold Fenske, and nephew, George Preissner.
Graveside services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on August 4, 2015 at Calvary Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside honors.
The family wishes to thank the many people in who enriched his life in recent years. His neighbors who helped with snow removal and yard work, the wonderful staff and friends at Touchstone Living Center, the compassionate staff of Heartland Hospice, Manor Care and Harbor Haven Nursing Homes, spiritual care from Holy Family Church and his comrades of the VFW Post 1904.
