Ervin "Don" Donald Steinke

Ervin “Don” Donald Steinke, age 93, formerly of Fond du Lac, died Monday, November 18, 2024, at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living in Waupun. He was born on August 7, 1931, in Fond du Lac, the son of Ervin W. and Catherine M. (Schaefer) Steinke. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from March 2, 1953 until February 18, 1955. In October of 1955, he married Loraine M. Neitzel at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2010. Don worked for Soo Line Railroad for 43 years until retirement in 1988. He was a charter member of the Ruff Riders Snowmobile Club.

Survivors include his children, Sandra (Dan) Schaefer, Judy (Dave Buchholz) Steinke, Linda (Barry) Cupery; one granddaughter, Shelli Cupery; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place on Monday, November 25, at 11:00 AM at Rosendale Cemetery, Rosendale. Military graveside honors will take place at the cemetery.
