Esther L. Halfman, 96, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Woodlands Senior Park. She was born April 8, 1918 in Chilton, the daughter of Gaylord and Lillian Knickerbacher Kramer. On June 15, 1940 she married William W. Halfman at St. John the Baptist in Johnsburg. William preceded Esther in death on January 1, 2004. Esther was a member of Holy Family Parish. She enjoyed gardening, reading detective stories, playing bingo, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children, David (Kathleen) Halfmann of Fond du Lac, Bonnie (Ronald) Wachendorf of Oakfield, Dennis Halfmann of Fond du Lac, Robert (Jean) Halfmann of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Catherine) Halfmann of Fond du Lac; eleven grandchildren, Mellissa (Paul) Mengert, Lynn (John) Immel, Pam (Rick) Jones, Bill Wachendorf, Brett Wachendorf, Sara (Robert Martinez) Wachendorf, Brian Keith (Kelly) Halfmann, Nathan (Bridget) Halfmann, Laura (Chad) Michels, Kim (Tim) Wagner, and Aaron (Kat Mueller) Halfmann; 23 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Curtis (Maryann) Kramer of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; one grandson; five siblings.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. At Esther's request there will be no memorial service. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will take place in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Woodlands Senior Park and Agnesian Hopice Hope for all the love, care and support shown to Esther and her family.
