Esther Louise Laning, 85, of 597 Kingswood Avenue died Monday, February 5, 2007 at her residence. She was born March 9, 1921 in the Town of Springvale, the daughter of Elmer and Mabel Giffey Draves. On September 5, 1942 she married Wilbur "Bill" Laning at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1984. She attended Fond du Lac Technical College for two years. Esther was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale and was involved with the 4-H as a sewing leader. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. SURVIVORS: six children, Sharon (Jack) Borchardt, Fond du Lac, Beverly Laning, Carlsbad, CA, Larry Laning, Brandon, Joan (Lloyd) Chapman, Rosendale, Ardell "Mooch" (William "Wilbur") Simon, Eldorado, Lynn Laning (Larry Weisensel), Stoughton; twelve grandchildren, Todd Borchardt, Brandon, Shelly (Mark) Hoppe, St. Paul, MN, Elena Laning, Carlsbad, CA, Amie Laning, Oshkosh, Erick Laning, Rosendale, Adam Laning, Fond du Lac, Amanda Laning, Rosendale, Heather (Christopher) Hall, Mosinee, Erin (Michael) Maxwell, Fond du Lac, Jacob Simon and his special friend Nicole, West Bend, Jared Simon, West Bend, Jenna Simon, Eldorado; fourteen great-grandchildren, Hunter and Logan Borchardt, Mikayla, Isabelle and Griffin Hoppe, Olivia and Madalyn Hall, Noelle, Evelynn and Aliza Hitz, Jonah Laning, Autumn Laning-Wood, Sierra Laning; one step great-granddaughter, Alexandra Stark; two sisters-in-law, Irma Draves, Fond du Lac, and Francis Laning, Oakfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
VISITATION: Wednesday, February 7, 2007 from 4 "“ 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 11 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale with the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park,In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the American Heart Association or Rosendale Veterans Memorial.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
