Esther M. Lauer

Esther M. Lauer, age 89, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully after a short illness at St. Agnes Hospital surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 3, 2008. She was born January 7, 1919, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Magnus and Amelia Meisner Zacho. On October 11, 1947, she married Francis P. Lauer at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1997. Esther was a one-room schoolhouse teacher in Brandon before her marriage; thereafter she worked alongside her husband in Plymouth at Lauer's Foods. Francis and Esther moved to Fond du Lac in 1966 and owned and operated Lauer's Foods until their retirement in 1975. Esther was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed gardening, bridge, golf, travel, walking, and visiting with her family and relatives. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club NautiGirls, Elks Club #57 Auxiliary, and the Dollar$ and Sense Stock Club.Surviving are two sons, John (Patricia) Lauer of Princeton, and Steve (Peggy) Lauer of Lamartine, and a daughter, Lynn Amara of Sacramento, CA. She is further survived four grandchildren, Ben Lauer son of John and Patti, Matt (Jody) Lauer and Trista Lauer, children of the late Bruce (Sandy) Lauer, and Daniel Amara, son of Lynn Amara, and two great-grandchildren, Macy Lauer and Eva Lauer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis, a son, Bruce, three sisters, Anna Zacho, Lilly Schmidt, and Adeline Tessar, and two brothers, William Zacho and Leo Zacho.



Visitation for Mrs. Esther M. Lauer will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Thursday, August 7th from 9 to 10 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 am at the funeral home on Thursday with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, 232 S. Peters Avenue.
