Eugene W. Hoffmann went to heaven to be with his Savior on Tuesday evening, October 15, 2024. The son of the late Bill and Geneva (Henke) Hoffmann was born December 3, 1930, in Marquette County in Wisconsin. Gene spent most of his childhood years on the farm in the Marquette County area. He was baptized into God’s family on January 1, 1931, and he graduated from Portage High School in 1949. Gene married his beautiful wife, Geraldine (Thompson) on June 14, 1952, and they were blessed to celebrate 72 anniversaries together. He taught for 14 years in Lutheran schools in Preston, Kansas; Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Gene finished his career at South Milwaukee Junior High School teaching 9th grade science for 21 years. Gene and Gerry enjoyed 33 years of retirement, living in Panama City, Florida and Clearwater, Florida before moving back to Wisconsin in 2020. He loved going for walks as illustrated by the 80,000 miles that he logged since his retirement in 1987, but his favorite walk was his walk with Jesus. Gene was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Gene is survived by his wife, Gerry; two sons, Greg (Lorraine) Hoffmann and Randy (Barb) Hoffmann; one daughter-in-law, Susan Hoffmann; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah (Audra) Hoffmann, Chelsea (Nate) Hamilton & Shane Hoffmann, Joshua (Wesley) Hoffmann & Natosha Hoffmann, Melissa Hoffmann & Julie (Garrett) Rippen; six great grandchildren Hailey, Tyler and Samantha Hoffmann and Cooper, Holden, and Crew Rippen; one sister-in-law, Barb Bakke, and several nieces and nephews.
