Eugene R. GoebelEugene R. Goebel, 69, of N 9772 Hwy W in Johnsburg died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at his residence. Gene was born August 24, 1934, a son of Anton and Odella Engel Goebel. On December 27, 1955 he married Mary Ann Hermanns at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. Gene worked for CD Smith as a cement finisher for many years as a member in the Local 1026. Gene and Mary Ann also ran Mary Ann's Place in Johnsburg from 1967-1974. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Johnsburg, St. John's Holy Name Society, and Pipe Senior Citizens. He enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, putting up his Christmas decorations, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife; Mary Ann of Johnsburg, three sons; Mark (Kerri) Goebel of Little Chute, Doug (Jan) Goebel of New Holstein, BJ (Jodie) Goebel of Johnsburg, two daughters; Katie (Ken) Andrew of Johnsburg, Sheila (Craig) Lefeber of Johnsburg, 13 grandchildren; Shaun and Jill Andrew, Joshua Casper, Stephanie Goebel, Chelsea and Ryan Goebel, Tyler, Becki, and Kollin Lefeber, Mitchell, Erin, Joey, and Paige Goebel, five sisters; Bernadette (Jerry) Blatz, Lorraine Flood, Sis (Tom) Scannell, Pat (special friend Bob) Dietzen, Alice Braatz, three brothers; John "Bud" (Shirley) Goebel, Tony (Joyce) Goebel, Jim (MaryAnn) Goebel, two brother-in-laws; Rev. Mel Hermanns, Peter (Rosie) Hermanns, one sister-in-law; Faye Hermanns, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson; Zachary Goebel, one sister; Marge Johanski, four brother-in-laws; Ed Braatz, Herbie Dietzen, Tom Flood, Frank Hermanns, and his mother and father-in-law; Herman and Alma Hermanns.



Visitation for Mr. Goebel will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2004 from 3-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Friday, August 20, 2004 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home. Funeral services will held on Friday, August 20, 2004 at 9:45 A.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg with the Rev. Mel Hermanns, his brother-in-law, and Rev. Joseph Coerber officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.Memorials in Gene's name may be directed to Agnesian Hospice, Our Lady Gate of Heaven Scholarship Fund, St. John the Baptist Parish, or to CPES.
