Eva C. Townsend Mitchener

Eva L. Townsend Mitchener, 96, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Grancare Nursing Center. She was born July 16, 1917 in O'Kean, AR, the daughter of Charles and Eva Dawson Riggs. In July of 1935 she married Floyd C. Townsend in Missouri and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1970. In 1973 she married Charles H. Mitchener in Missouri and he preceded her in death in November of 1997. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church, supporting and traveling with mission trips to Peru, New Zealand, and Australia. Eva was an avid quilter, sewed her own clothes, crocheting, baking and cooking, and loved singing hymns.She is survived by two children, John (Maria) Townsend, Fond du Lac and Nola Cunningham-Berggruen, Clinton Township, MI; four grandchildren, Eric (Lori) Cunningham, Gena (Tony) Benson, Maria (Paul) Metz, and Victoria Longoria; five great grandchildren, Eva, Luisa, Jolie, Ryan, and Abby. She is further survived by three brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Nolan; four sisters and one brother.



Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM "“ 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Blain officiating. A visitation will be held in Winchester, OH on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 10:00 AM "“ 12:00 noon at Winchester Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Winchester Baptist Church with Retired Army Chaplain Dwight Riggs officiating.
