Forrest J. Hackbarth, 93, of Van Dyne, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 15, 1924 in the Town of Eldorado, the son of Louis and Martha Spiering Hackbarth. On February 10, 1956 he married Kathryn Ann Konrad in Oshkosh. Forrest farmed on the family farm his entire life. He was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church on the Ridge Road and currently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He served on the St. Paul’s school board and church council and also was active in building the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial. Forrest enjoyed farming, tinkering with machinery, fishing, playing sheepshead, rummy and cribbage with family and friends, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; eight children, Sandy Pommerening, Doug (Lori) Hackbarth, Karen (Jay) Gilgenbach, Don (Vicki) Hackbarth, Janet (special friend, Ray LeSieur) Hackbarth, Joan Badtke, Mary (Dan) Luebke, and Keith Hackbarth; ten grandchildren, Traci (Kyle) Sorensen, Ryan Pommerening, Kurt Hackbarth, Michelle (Mark) Dobberstein, Jennifer (Brad) Roberson, Alex and Mark Badtke, Brandi (Zach) Dehler, Kayla and Isaiah Luebke; great grandchildren; special friend, Randy Pommerening; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Terry Lamb; an infant brother; three sisters, Lucille (Al) Sonnenberg, Irene (Chester) Kemnitz, and Inez (Carl) Mueller; one brother, Robert Hackbarth.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. James Borgwardt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery on Ridge Road.
