Francis E. Briggs

Francis E. Briggs, 93 formerly of 316 East Bank Street, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Woodlands Senior Park. He was born on May 28, 1917 in Oconto, WI the son of John B. and Frances Minerva Briggs. He graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1935. He married Lorraine E. Coyne at St. Patrick's Church on June 29, 1940. He was employed with Giddings and Lewis from 1935 to 1982 when he retired. From 1942 thru 1945, he served with the 5th Armored Division in The Normandy, The Northern France, The Bulge, The Rhineland and The Central Europe Campaigns. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, the G & L Oldsters, Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie No.270, Fond du Lac Rifle and Pistol Club, Forest Sportsman's Club, 5th Armored Division Association. Francis enjoyed target and trapshooting, radio controlled model airplanes, genealogy searches and traveling. SURVIVORS: include one son, John (Shirlie) Briggs, Cincinnati, Ohio and one sister, Esther Greminger, Mt. Calvary. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife; Lorraine in 1982.



VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 9:30 to 10 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way. FUNERAL: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday; January 5, 2011 at the church with Reverend Robert Stiefvater officiating. Cremation has taken place with inurnment at the Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
