Frank F. YakaitesFrank F. Yakaites, 82, of 830 Bechaud Avenue, North Fond du Lac, died Thursday, January 20, 2005, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born May 1, 1922, in North Fond du Lac, a son of Frank and Catherine Norkaites Yakaites. On June 23, 1949, he married Antoinette Zinkowich at St. Patrick's Church in Green Bay. She preceded him in death on September 20, 1982. Mr. Yakaites was a life-long resident of North Fond du Lac and was a member of Church of The Presentation. He was formerly employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a conductor for 42 years retiring in October of 1983. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the China Burma Theatre in India with 721st Railway Battalion, Company B. He enlisted on November 21, 1942 and was discharged January 17, 1946. He was a former Holy Name Society member, a member of the Holy Family Prayer Group, and the Eucharistic Adoration group of Presentation Church. Frank enjoyed riding around North Fond du Lac on his bike in his colorful hats, telling jokes, exercising, cooking, gardening, visiting with family and friends and making people happy, being very proud of his Lithuanian heritage. Frank always had a joke or story to share with everyone, but he "just wasn't sure if it was true or not."Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Joan) Yakaites and Gary (Ann Crain) Yakaites, all of Fond du Lac, two daughters, Susan (Dennis) Mohr of Clinton, CT, and Mary (David Bradel) Yakaites of North Fond du Lac, five grandchildren, Jennifer, Thomas, Jessica, Joshua, and Zachary, four great-grandchildren, Meghan, Michael, Brady, and Griffin. He is further survived by a brother, Anthony (Bernice) Yakaites of Marshfield, WI, nieces, nephews including Jeffrey Yakaites, and other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his favorite pet dogs, Buddy, Bear, Skippy, and Hannah. His parents, wife, his twin sister, Catherine Rather, sisters, Nellie Woicek, Lillian Abraham, Ann King, Agnes Feucht, and a brother, Joseph "Doc" Yakaites preceded him in death.
Visitation for Mr. Frank F. Yakaites will be on Monday, January 24, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at 10:30 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at Church of The Presentation in North Fond du Lac. The Rev. John Simon will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in Mr. Yakaites' name.
